Replace the Birkin? Probably not, but Jean Paul Gaultier has introduced a new handbag to the Hermès line. The Jypsière, the new bag is called, is a classic messenger type bag with the same iconic features as other Hermès bags. Jean Paul Gaultier modeled it after a hunting satchel. "The idea is to have a functional, nonchalant bag slung across the shoulder, combined with the iconic details of the Hermès bags," says Gaultier.
I would love for the messenger design to make a style come back as it is so convenient. I have learned that if you're doing some serious shopping (ie. lugging around multiple shopping bags) the Birkin is not the best shopper as it can't go over your shoulder.
